July 5, 2017 : Inter house chess competition

“Chess is not always about winning sometimes it’s simply about learning and so is life”
Chess is a two-player strategy board game played on a chessboard, a checkered game board with 64 squares arranged in an 8×8 grid. The game is played by millions of people worldwide. Chess is believed to have originated in India sometime before the 7th century, being derived from the Indian game Chaturanga, which is also the likely ancestor of the Eastern strategy games Xiangqi, Janggi, and Shogi. This year our school organised an inter house chess competition in the first week of July. The competition was conducted in a league form where points were allotted to all the winners for each game they played. On the final day the first position was secured by Avani Kedia of Red house, the second position by Mansi Garg again of Red house and third position was bagged by Kopal Agarwal of Green house. The competition was really a tough one as 30 students participated, 10 from each house. Participants whole heartedly accepted their defeat and victory and pledged to better in the next competition. As a whole, the competition was successful in testing the mental ability of the participants.                                                                                                                         Mansi Garg
